As Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs advises women to consider alternatives before buying Oxytrol to treat overactive bladder, sometimes the best solution is a combination of nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Bedside Care For Incontinent Elderly

Caring for an elderly who is bedridden and incontinent.
There are many challenges for the caregivers of seniors. If you are a caregiver for an elderly loved one in your life, it can at times be overwhelming. This is especially true if you are the caregiver for a bedridden senior who is incontinent. This can present many different issues. However it is important that caregivers understand the unique needs of the bedridden incontinent senior and how they can best deal with them. When these needs are clearly understood the caregiver can not only provide a higher quality of care but can help to improve the health status of the person in their care.

The DELTA Doctrine For Caregivers

The "Delta Doctrine" isn't selfish, it's smart.
Guest post by Peter W. Rosenberger, speaker, author,  caregiver for 27-plus years and President of Standing With Hope

While flying Delta Airlines to Atlanta one day, I heard the flight attendant give the best advice I had ever heard for caregivers:

“In the unlikely event of a loss in cabin pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the ceiling. Securely place your mask on first before helping anyone next to you who may need assistance.”

That small directive, which I’m sure many of us have heard before and which I now call the “The Delta Doctrine,” contains applicable wisdom for so many life circumstances, but probably none as poignant as for those of us serving as a caregiver.

I Felt So Helpless The Day My Husband Fell

The Friendly Bed is as much for the disabled
as it is for the Caregiver.
“My husband and I were married 46 years when we were faced with a challenging decision. My husband has MS, and the difficulty of moving his legs, the tremors, weakness, balance problems and pain he was experiencing greatly restricted his mobility.

For the most part, between my help and his power chair, he was able to get around okay and remain in our home. However, at night and when I was not available, his loss of mobility posed a problem. The MS did not just lead to muscle spasms and pain, but also frequent urges to use the bathroom. Getting in and out of bed several times a night was difficult. Even with the help of absorbent products like these, we were both losing sleep. We couldn’t go on that way, barely eeking by. We had to decide what to do.

Services For the Elderly Who Need Help at Home

Services can provide a huge difference in a senior's quality of life.
The majority of seniors want to stay in their homes as they age. Aging in place has many benefits, such as it is more comfortable and far less expense. But it can also increase risk. As seniors age, they may need more help at home. The following are some of, but not an exclusive list of, the service seniors may need:
