Manage Urinary Incontinence

Manage Urinary Incontinence
Incontinence is a problem that affects over 20 million people currently residing in the United States. This many people live each day having to deal with the consequences and root problems of body control issues. Incontinence comes in the form of urinary issues and bowel issues. Both are difficult to manage and need special care.

Root Causes
Your body is having a problem holding in urine based on an underlying condition. Your body could just be getting weaker and the muscles cannot hold in the urine properly or you might have a medical condition that is serious and needs to be dealt with. This is where you need to consult a doctor. Your doctor may have a list of things that might be causing your problem just based on your medical history. The doctor may take a look at your medications because control problems have been known to be a side effect of certain medicines.

Stress can also aggravate this condition. Whether or not it is the cause, stress can make your problem worse. When you get stressed out, neurotransmitters in the brain don’t act right. Blood can build up and created migraines, and the immune system suffers. Stress is the cause of so many problems that it may just be a reason for yours.

So try out different ways to letting go of the stress in your life. See a personal massage therapist once a week. Go to the chiropractor and make sure that your spine and neck are in line. Take yoga or other exercise classes. Exercise does wonders for stress and for keeping up the immune system. When you sweat, you sweat out toxins. Working out also keeps your organs and heart and bones all working like they should, preventing problems that can cause incontinence.

Consequences
There are many things that may happen when you experience the loss of urinary or bowel control in your life. You may find that you are no longer able to sit through a whole movie or concert. This causes some people to sit at home for fear of having an accident and causing a scene.

You may not want to experience intimacy because you fear loss of control there, as well. As much as others may be kind and understanding, you just may not feel yourself. Perhaps you don’t feel up to going places because you do not want to laugh too hard or work too hard and consequently lose it.

This condition can make you feel frustrated, angry, sad, and incapable all at once. The good news is that there are things you can do to treat and prevent incontinence.

Urinary Incontinence Products
There are really great urinary incontinence products out there designed perfectly for you. Your body type and needs have been taken into account. Remember that many people suffer from this symptom; that means that many kinds of products have been developed.

There are guards that are easily removable and even tear-off full protection guards for maximum comfort. These are easy to use for both men and women and are quite discrete. There are various sizes and fits to choose from, as well as a variety of thicknesses and absorbencies.

There is disposable pull on underwear that is so close to your normal garments that the only difference is protection level that you will deal with. Try out multiple types of adult diapers and washable underwear in order to find the one that fits properly and will give you complete protection.

When you find a good product to deal with your incontinence you can start living the carefree life that you used to take for granted. Go and see your doctor to deal with the cause of your problem and in the meantime, pick out the right kind of guard to feel safe and shield against any leak that may come when you least expect it.
