Are Your Leaks Hemorrhoids Related?

Hemorrhoids is one of the unexpected causes of ABL.
If you are experiencing accidental bowel leakage (ABL) you are not alone. One in five women over forty experience ABL, and the numbers for men are not much smaller. Millions of Americans experience light to moderate ABL, and for a variety of reasons. And about half of them do not talk about it. Not even to their doctors. Despite the cause.

One of these causes is unexpected. Hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse, the condition where the lower part of the bowel extends outside the anus, can be one of the causes of this leakage.

Why does it matter? Because the cause dictates the treatment. In the case of hemorrhoids, doctor care is imperative, and the underlying issue needs to be treated (the hemorrhoids), not the leaks themselves.

In order to do this, you must understand what hemorrhoids are, and how they occur, and what you can do about them. Understanding the cause of the leaks can help you find solutions and manage the leaks in a way that brings confidence and normalcy to your life.

Hemorrhoids are swollen or inflamed veins in the anus and lower rectum. This can be caused by straining during bowel movements, possibly due to constipation. It can be caused by increased pressure during childbirth, or during activities that add pressure to the anus.

There are both internal and external hemorrhoids, meaning inside the rectum or around the anus. They involve bleeding during bowel movements, itching, irritation, pain, swelling, sensitivity, and of course, leakage of feces. Everyone’s symptoms are different.

What can you do about it? First watch for the signs. Bleeding during bowel movements is the most common sign. If you see bleeding, consult a doctor, it could be something else. Something more serious. Or it could be hemorrhoids.

Treat the hemorrhoids. If your leaks are hemorrhoid related treating the hemorrhoids can really help to resolve the leakage.

In the meantime, you really need to take steps to manage the leaks. ABL can lead to isolation and discomfort in social situations. If you want to be able to live with discretion and normalcy, the right absorbent products are a must.

When looking for absorbent products for ABL, consider fit, comfort, absorbency, and convenience of use.

The B-Sure Absorbent Pads  are a great fit for these needs. They offer a thin, butterfly shape that fits comfortably between the buttocks. It absorbs well for those with light to moderate ABL. They are convenient to use, without adhesive, and can be easily disposed of. They absorb odor, and are very discreet, even flushable!

With the right products and treatment, you can feel confident leaving your home, living your life, and enjoying it without the fear of leaks at inopportune times.
