Urinary Incontinence Products Are Here To Protect Everyone

Urinary incontinence is not the end of the world
Urinary incontinence products include everything from medications to diapers and beyond. Useful for people, who for one reason or another, experience problems with controlling their bladders, these types of products allow people to lead normal lives filled with dignity and freedom that would otherwise not be possible. Even with all of the good that they do for people, some incontinence products have an unnecessary stigma attached to them that cause the person using the product to want to hide the fact that he or she does use it. While it is okay to hide something out of modesty, hiding something through fear of being caught or shame is less acceptable psychology for anyone. People who want to continue to experience what life has to offer without having to reveal urinary incontinence should be able to use these products without fear of ridicule.
Urinary incontinence is not the end of the world. Steps can be taken to control it, and going to a doctor to get it diagnosed can help get it fixed as well, which could make the urinary incontinence products obsolete. People who have experienced urinary incontinence have been able to control, and even reverse, the effects with diet and exercise. Daily exercise will improve incontinence as it can strengthen your muscles, specifically the pelvic floor muscles, and reduces the amount of pressure on your bladder.

Your doctor will be able to help you understand the type of incontinence that you are suffering from. This will make it easier for you to select the right products for your situation. To help narrow down your list of urinary incontinence products, here is a simple checklist to use:

  • How much urine loss are you experiencing each day? Maintain a record of how much urine loss you are dealing with as it will help you to select the right level of absorbency. This will also help you in selecting the right product.
  •  Do you want to purchase a product that you can dispose of or would you prefer washable products? The washable incontinence supplies save you money over the long-run but they do require more maintenance on your end as you need to wash them as soon as possible to prevent bacteria from growing in your bathroom.
  • Does the product fit snugly to your body? It is always smart to purchase a product that allows plenty of air flow to come to your genitals to reduce odors but also to reduce irritation. It is important to try out the pads and the diapers to see which fits the best and which properly captures the urine. Never purchase products that pinch the skin or feel uncomfortable. These products will irritate the skin and they can make you feel self-conscious about them.
  • Do you want to try using the catheters? They require more involvement but they are nice for many people that do not want to deal with adult diapers. Men often prefer them as they are easy to insert and you just change out the bag once it becomes filled with urine. It is important that you do cleanse the tube well in order to prevent a urinary tract infection from occurring.
For those who are not able to do so, there are many different urinary incontinence products available. Some are made for women, and some are made for men. Try on the disposable and washable brands to see what you like. Some models are made breathable, and there are pull-up versions available. As the population ages in the United States, the country needs to embrace its older citizens and help them to lead happy lives full of freedom and dignity.
