Who suffers from bladder incontinence?
Women typically suffer from incontinence problems more than men do. While you can try using herbal remedies and even prescription drugs, your best option may be to consider surgery. Typically males will have a surgery that will release pressure on the prostate. Females usually have surgery that helps to strengthen the muscles surrounding the urethra. Surgery should only be considered if other treatment options do not work and you are unable to find relief from bladder incontinence.
Common pain you may experience with bladder incontinence
There are a number of problems you will experience if you have bladder incontinence issues. The most common type of pain you will feel is in your lower back and in your pelvic region. People experience pain in just about every region of their back when they have incontinence problems. The pain must be treated with prescription medications if it becomes unbearable and it doesn’t give you a chance to go along with your day-to-day life.
Solving bladder incontinence problems
In addition to using adult diapers to help you with your embarrassing problems, you will need to undergo treatments that can help to strengthen the muscles in the pelvic region. Your doctor will provide you with exercises that strengthen the pelvic region, but they will also be able to help you with the nervous system. Using medications that are over-the-counter may actually cause more problems as they leave you with constipation problems and other issues. This is why you need to meet with your doctor to make sure you have the right type of medications that will actually help you.
Other helpful tools to reduce bladder incontinence problems
In addition to doing daily Kegel exercises and using adult diapers, there are some other things you can do that may prevent your incontinence problems. This includes the following:
- Reducing your intake of caffeine and alcohol
- Standing up too quickly or lifting heavy objects
- Reduce you intake of water before going to bed
- Lose weight. If you can get your BMI below 25, you will be able to have more control over your bladder as there will not be as much pressure on the bladder.
Many times elderly individuals have incontinence problems because they are induced by stress. The stress comes from laughing, sneezing, and coughing. When you do these things, the muscles that typically hold in the urine are relaxed and this leads you to release urine without your control. Using the restroom more can help you release the excess urine you have in your bowels, preventing you from releasing it an inconvenient times. Always wear incontinence products when you are heading out into public and you are worried about small drips here and there when you are laughing and enjoying a nice day out with your friends.

One of the advantages of disposable adult diapers is their disposability. These diapers do not have to be washed and dried, but instead can be thrown away in the same way as a child's diaper. These diapers absorb urine and prevent the skin from becoming irritated. A disposable diaper must be changed as soon as it becomes wet, but they are capable of holding more fluid than cloth diapers.
Thank you for mentioning Kegel exercises. They are a great non-surgical alternative to help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. A great resource for learning more about Kegels can be found at www.kegelqueen.com.
Thanks for the excellent comments. This can very very confusing because there are so many types and styles. We offer over 500! Who would have ever thought that was possible. The stores only offer a small handful of what is available.
We prefer the disposables because they are proven to provide better skin health. If a persons skin breaks down it can be very hard to resolve it.
Regarding the environment, we conducted a 'cradle to grave' analysis of cloth versus disposables via an independent third party scientific organization. The results? One is not better or worse for the environment than another... they affect it differently. For example, cloth diapers require hot water and detergent for cleaning while disposable contribute to filling landfills.
In summary, most important is choosing a product which provides the best overall skin health.
