"Travel can be a rewarding experience, but many people, including my own father, become intimidated by it as they age,” said Mark Austin, MedSafe Travel CEO and founder. “We worry about the things that can prevent you from enjoying your trip."
Minnesota-based MedSafe Travel is introducing a unique travel support program for seniors and physically challenged adults who want to travel but would feel more comfortable with a full-time senior travel specialist or a personal companion. To escape the hard winter months, MedSafe is offering one-week, all-inclusive senior group trips to Cancun, on Mexico’s Caribbean coast.

“Travel can be a rewarding experience, but many people, including my own father, become intimidated by it as they age,” said Mark Austin, MedSafe Travel CEO and founder. “We worry about the things that can prevent you from enjoying your trip so you don't have to.”

MedSafe Travel has partnered with Prairie River Home Care, an established, family-owned, Medicare-certified home health care provider, to offer companions and even nurses when needed for a successful travel experience. Combined services include:
  • Free safe travel planning assessments
  • Caregivers for assistance with packing and unpacking, airport check-ins, baggage handling, transportation, medications, personal grooming, meals, social activities and sightseeing
  • Full-time senior travel specialists for group trips
  • Local Cancun ground transportation, tour assistance and an on-call medical director
  • A video documentary of each trip featuring daily highlights for long-lasting memories
  • Respite caregiver support for families

MedSafe Travel‘s target market is individuals, families, senior and long-term care organizations and travel agencies who recognize the benefits of MedSafe’s services for enabling aging baby-boomers, seniors or any other adult who is physically challenged to enjoy a safe trip or vacation. MedSafe is not a travel company per se and only facilitates senior support services.

Cancun features frequent direct flights in the winter, reliable warm and sunny weather and the beauty of the Caribbean. Once in the air, travelers will arrive within four hours and be driven together in a luxury van to the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe, a centrally-located and hand-picked senior-friendly resort.

Inaugural senior group trips are being offered in January at reduced rates. From February through May, all-inclusive, regular priced trips will be offered. Senior group trips to other destinations may be added, depending on interest and availability.

Mr. Austin was recently invited by the U.S. Mexico Chamber of Commerce in Chicago to speak at an Executive Breakfast on October 27th about MedSafe's Senior Travel Program to Cancun.

You are giving unique services which I had never seen before. All travel agents are taking interest in normal people but you are giving services to people who are physically challenged adults and senior citizens. Hats of
